Learn about the camera’s accessibility functions (user assistance functions)
Screen Reader
This function reads aloud information such as text on the screen.
Only some languages may be supported for this function depending on the model. This function is available only when the language set in the menu is supported by this function.
To always enable the screen reader function, press and hold the MENU button on the initial setup screen which is displayed after you turn the camera on for the first time. The screen reader function will be enabled.
Once you use the screen reader function on the initial setup screen, the screen reader function will be kept enabled after the initial setup, and you can switch on and off for the screen reader function by pressing and holding the MENU button.
Note: The MENU button is located on the rear side of the camera, the left side of the eyepiece part of the viewfinder, immediately above the monitor, and is a horizontally long-shaped button.
Please refer to the Help Guide for the setup method.
Enlarge Screen
This function enlarges the MENU screen for better readability of the text. (Some MENU screens do not support the enlarging function.)
Press the C2 button (Custom button 2) on the menu screen to enlarge the display. You can move the displayed position using the multi-selector, front dial, rear dial L, or rear dial R, or by turning the control wheel.
Please refer to the Help Guide for the setup method.
Focus Magnifier
This function lets you check the focus by enlarging the image before shooting. You can also use the focus magnifier function by touch operation.
Please refer to the Help Guide for the setup method.
Focus Map (Movie)
When shooting a movie, this function displays areas that are in focus and areas that are out of focus so that you can visually distinguish them. Areas behind the in-focus region are indicated by dots in a cool color and those in front of the in-focus region are indicated by dots in a warm color.
Please refer to the Help Guide for the setup method.
Peaking Display
This function enhances the outline of in-focus areas during shooting with Manual Focus or Direct Manual Focus. When shooting a movie, you can also use the peaking function with auto focus.
Please refer to the Help Guide for the setup method.
Subject Recognition in AF
If you set the subject in advance, this function enables the camera to automatically recognize the subject and focus on the eyes, etc. when shooting images. The camera focuses on the eye, head, body, or entirety of the subject recognized in or around the designated Focus Area. When shooting still images, the camera focuses on the subject when you press the shutter button halfway down. When shooting movies, the camera will focus on the recognized subject, even if you do not press the shutter button.
Please refer to the Help Guide for the setup method.
Touch Tracking
This function lets you use touch operations to select a subject you want to track in still image shooting mode and movie recording mode.
Please refer to the Help Guide for the setup method.
Touch Focus
When performing auto-focusing, this function lets you specify a position where you want to focus using touch operations.
After touching the monitor, press the shutter button halfway down to focus.
You can also touch a subject to focus on it when shooting movies. (When shooting with the monitor)
Please refer to the Help Guide for the setup method.
Touch Shutter
When performing auto-focusing in still image shooting mode, this function automatically focuses on the point you touch and shoots. (When shooting with the monitor)
Please refer to the Help Guide for the setup method.
Touch AE
This function lets you automatically set the exposure based on the brightness of a point you touch. You can fine-tune the brightness by sliding the brightness adjustment bar that appears after touching. (When shooting with the monitor)
Please refer to the Help Guide for the setup method.
Multi-angle LCD screen
4-axis multi-angle LCD screen provides unrestricted angle adjustment both horizontally and vertically. This makes it easy to check the image on the LCD panel during or after a shoot regardless of camera placement or orientation, even while you are seated.
Custom function
This function lets you assign the functions you use most frequently to easily operable buttons and dials. This lets you skip the process of selecting items from the menu screen, so you can recall the functions more quickly. You can separately assign functions to buttons and dials for still image shooting mode, movie shooting mode, and playback mode.
Please refer to the Help Guide for the setup method.
