The headphones do not turn on (LinkBuds Clip, LinkBuds Open)
Follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:
Before you start
- For LinkBuds Clip:
Depending on the charging conditions, the headphones may temporarily not turn on after charging is complete. Connect the charging case using the USB Type-C® cable (compliant with USB standards) under the following system requirements, and check if the headphones turn on.- System requirements for battery charge using USB
- Recommended optional USB AC adaptor: AC-UD20
- A commercially available USB AC adaptor capable of supplying an output current of 0.5 A (500 mA) or more
- A computer equipped with a USB port as standard

-
Clean the headphones.
Use dry cloth or cotton swab to clean the charging port. For details on how to clean the headphones, refer to the How to care for the headphones article.
Note: Do not use an air duster to remove dust or foreign substances. Dust and other debris may enter the sound output holes and cause malfunction.
Solution
-
Make sure the battery is fully charged.
The indicator lights up in orange when charging starts, and after charging is complete, the indicator will turn off.
- If the headphones do not turn on after charging, go to step 2.
- If the headphones can't start charging, refer to the following depending on the situation:
- The indicator repeatedly flashes twice in orange with an interval of about 1 second while charging the headphones or charging case
The abnormal temperature may prevent the charging. Leave the charging case in a place with an ambient temperature between the values listed below, and try charging again. Efficient charging may not be possible beyond the range.- LinkBuds Clip: 5 °C to 35 °C (41 °F to 95 °F)
- LinkBuds Open: 15 °C to 35 °C (59 °F to 95 °F)
- The indicator repeatedly flashes slowly in orange with an interval of about 0.5 seconds while charging the headphones or charging case
An error occurs while charging. Go to step 5.
- Wear the headphones and check if you can hear a sound effect during tap control.
- Check the Notification & Voice Guide setting:
- Open the Sony | Sound Connect app.
- Select Device settings → System, and check if the Notification & Voice Guide is set to On.
