    We provide the firmware update to the latest version 1.02 for the firmware of NWZ-A826/A828/A829.

    Fixed symptoms
    With the above products, customers may experience the following symptoms. The symptoms will be fixed with this firmware update.

    • When playing back music by connecting Walkman with the following products*, the loud sounds may be heard in controlling Walkman by the remote controllers supplied with the products, or connected Bluetooth devices.

    Verifying the Model and Firmware Version: Please confirm the Model and the Firmware version from the steps below.

    1. Press and hold the BACK/HOME button until the Home menu appears.
    2. Press / / / button to select (Settings), and then press button.
    3. Press / / / button to select Common Settings, and then press button.
    4. Press / / / button to select Unit Information, and then press button.
      Confirm the Model and the Firmware version.

    Details

    Download procedure

    1. Set up the folder for storing the downloaded file on the hard disk.
      Assuming the folder is named FWUP and is created in C drive.
    2. Save the downloaded file NWZ-A820_V1_02.exe (11,991 KB) in this folder.
    3. When the download is completed, use Windows Explorer to browse to the folder where the file is saved. Click View and then click Details.
      * If the file size is the same as the download size (11,991 KB) the download is successful. If the size is different, please delete the file and download it again.

    Update procedure

    Note:

    • During this update process, the unit requires a minimum of 25MB of free space.
    • Please transfer all tracks and data from the unit to the computer before carrying out the firmware update.
    • It cannot be guaranteed that during the update process, the tracks and data stored in the unit would not be damaged or deleted.
    1. Connect the unit to the PC.
    2. Quit all software running on Windows. In the event that Content Transfer software starts automatically, close the Content Transfer.
    3. Windows Vista users: Click Start button, on the task bar of your computer, followed by All Programs - Run…
      Windows XP users: Click Start button on the task bar of your computer and click Run...
      The "Run..." dialog box will open.
    4. Type C:\FWUP\NWZ-A820_V1_02.exe in the Open text box and click OK. The firmware upgrade program will be started.
    5. Follow the on-screen message.
      * Please do not disconnect the unit from the PC during upgrading.
      * During upgrading, USB connection is automatically controlled and "Connecting USB" indication is off with the control. Also, the USB disconnect message may appear on some computers.
    6. When the message of completing upgrading is displayed, click Finish button.

    Troubleshooting Firmware Errors

    • Symptom: In case the PC show as "The update data file cannot be transferred because there is not enough available disk space in the device."
      Solution: Delete some songs in the unit, or transfer to PC to available disk space more than 25MB. Then, start to upgrade, again.

    • Symptom: In the case the PC show as "The software update of the NWZ-A826 (or NWZ-A828, NWZ-A829) device to version 1.02 timed out."
      Solution: The upgrade may have failed. Click Finish. Follow the Update procedure and retry to update.

    Firmware Update Verification:Please confirm the firmware version when the upgrade program is completed. The update program installation is successful when firmware version 1.02 is shown on the screen.

    1. Press and hold the BACK/HOME button until the Home menu appears.
    2. Press / / / button to select (Settings), and then press button.
    3. Press / / / button to select Common Settings, and then press button.
    4. Press / / / button to select Unit Information, and then press button.
      Confirm the Model and that the Firmware version.
