What is SmartScreen and what are the options available in Windows 8?

SmartScreen Filter is designed to warn you if the website you are visiting is impersonating another website or contains threats to your computer.

Turning on SmartScreen Filter:

1. Launch Internet Explorer desktop.
2. Press the ALT key.
3. Click Tools.
4. Select SmartScreen Filter.
5. Select Turn on SmartScreen Filter. 
    

Checking a Specific Website:

1. Launch Internet Explorer desktop.
2. Press the ALT key.
3. Click Tools.
4. Select SmartScreen Filter.
5. Select Check this website.
   
6. Select OK.
7. Results will now appear if the website is safe or not.
    

Reporting an unsafe website:

1. Launch Internet Explorer desktop.
2. Press the ALT key.
3. Click Tools
4. Select SmartScreen Filter.
5. Select Report unsafe website.
    
6. Enter the required information and select Submit.
