Headphones | Connecting to two Bluetooth devices at the same time (multipoint connection)

With a standard Bluetooth connection, your earbuds or headphones can connect to only one device at a time. With a multipoint connection, they can stay connected to two devices at once, such as two smartphones or a smartphone and a computer.

Note: Menu names and steps may vary depending on your device model or OS (operating system).

    Before you start:

    • Multipoint connection supports up to two devices at once. If you connect a third device, the device that most recently played audio remains connected, and the other one is disconnected.
    • Both devices must support Bluetooth audio connections.
    • Make sure your devices have the latest software version. Check the Download page for your model.
    • For model-specific details, check your product's Help Guide.

    Steps for multipoint connection

The following procedure is current as of June 2026.

    1. Turn on Bluetooth on both devices, then pair your earbuds or headphones with each device.
For pairing instructions, see the Help Guide for your model

    2. Connect the earbuds or headphones to your first device (for example, your smartphone).

    3. Open the Sony | Sound Connect app on the first device, and tap Connect to 2 devices simultaneously in the My Device tab.

    4. Tap the toggle to enable Connect to 2 devices simultaneously.
Your earbuds or headphones may disconnect briefly and then reconnect automatically.

    5. Select the two devices you want to use together from the Paired list.
Once the multipoint connection is complete, both devices will appear in the Connected list.

    Using your connected devices together

Here's how to use your devices when they#39;re connected at the same time.

To switch playback, start playing music on the second device while the first device is still playing. The earbuds or headphones will automatically switch the sound to the second device.

Note: If playback doesn't switch automatically, stop the music on the first device, then start playback on the device you want to hear music from.
