My main gripes with DSLR and CSC cameras adapted for video are the form factor and functionality. You see all these ridiculous rigs with various power sources, clumsy interconnects and multiple devices that all need to be recording... The XLR-K2M does away with all of that for compatable Sony CSC cameras. You have professional audio inputs with XLR connect and phantom power and physical switches and trim controls (not clumsy menu driven) and best of all, you still run off one battery to charge, replace, and have one record button to press. The supplied mic is good for run and gun, you'll want something off camera be it a cabled lavalier, radio or rifle mic, this is a flexible unit that gives you choices between self powered, mic level, line level.. essential for any film-maker serious about good in camera audio.

Nice to have 2 XLR inputs a controls on camera, easy to use and captures good sound.

I bought this but probably should have purchased the K1M!! The K2M can only be used on the hot-shoe. I wrongly thought I would be able to mount this somewhere else on a cage rig like you can with the K1M. Sony could easily resolve this by providing an extension lead but this product doesn't exist!!
